JigokuShoujoXIV, Best Japanese learning appThere are surprisingly very few good apps to teach the Japanese language. This is the best for beginners out of lots of trial and error on the App Store. I love the immersive environment, music, art, games, and teaching methods.
Many Japanese apps have lackluster graphics, and quiz you on advanced material way too soon (often times not even teaching the Kana alphabet yet). This Kawaii game introduces the letters slowly, each on beautifully designed cards in an RPG game-like environment. There’s also some interesting mini stories and character development going on here, which is pleasantly surprising. I am able to much better memorize the lessons this way. Plus there’s no timer, which I love.
I look forward to the makers expanding this app. It’s already amazing, but I’d love to see more advanced material down the road so I can keep playing. I’m surprised this doesn’t have more users!
For less than $10 you can unlock everything. There’s no subscription model that costs an arm and a leg in the long term, like most language apps do these days. I like the concept of being able to buy the VERY affordable expansion packs in the game (as I said.I unlocked all alphabet, vocabulary, and grammar expansion cards for less than $10!).

Last year I was stressed out and couldn’t focus, so that made it hard. Now that I’m not stressed anymore it’s very easy to learn.My first suggestion is to reduce the waiting time for the question thing.

Doing the question reviewing take forever and brings my mood down.My second suggestion is that that only have 5 of the questions to get wrong. In all it would take 15 hours to wait for them all to come back.Finally, my full out opinion is amazing. It makes Japanese fun and easy!
But still one app is not enough to learn everything. But in the beginning you learn the basics and then make you way up.

The lessons test you on reading, writing, typing, and pronouncing hiragana and katakana letters. Also, the interfaces for these activities are intuitive. Once you get to the “ga (が)” set though, there is no explanation for tenten or maru changing the sounds.

Aside from that, the game progresses smoothly.I would say though that the second test to skip Katakana and grammar lessons is missing questions about how to draw Katakana symbols.Edit: The difficulty discrepancy between JLPT N5 and First grade Kanji is negligible due to ample hints given. As long as you know how to use the grammar particles は, です, ですか, and の, you should be able to pass the second test using hints. I think it should also test for Katakana though because it gives you credit for doing all of them too; not just the grammar lessons. The JLPT content changes sometimes, so maybe your source is outdated about the category for 気?Experience points are granted on the amount of cards you complete.
When you take a closer look, some grammar lessons have less cards than the hiragana/katakana lessons, some have more.
