I'm on the fence about getting the new Pi and trying this build.I like my first gen Pi, but it can be slow as molasses when making any changes that require core reload or a system reboot. Quote:IMPORTANT: Do NOT under any circumstances take Googles bait to switch from Google Chat to Hangouts, or you will forever lose the ability to use Google Chat with Incredible PBX.You sure about that? I opted in both my Google Voice numbers to Hangouts so I can use the app on my phone, and the Pi I run with your Asterisk 11/FreePBX build works fine. Said by:I like my first gen Pi, but it can be slow as molasses when making any changes that require core reload or a system reboot.I'm running this build on a Pi 2. The GUI is really fast, almost like being on a fast x86.
I couldn't believe it especially after loading IPBX with Raspian Wheezy on the same Pi 2 last year and it was a complete DOG. For whatever reason, the efficiencies in Jessie really speed things up or maybe it's Asterisk 13. Either reason, it's worth your time to try it out IMO. No, I'm not sure about the Google design from one day to the next.
It's probably safer to not take the chance of losing Google Chat support but, if Hangouts works for you as well, that's great. Said by:What is the call quality? Is chanunistim compiled in?Call quality obviously depends upon the speed and reliability of your Internet connection. But, if you've got the necessary bandwidth, you'll never know the call was handled by a Raspberry Pi 3. It matches call quality using any Atom-based PC. And, yes, unistim is included. If you haven't used Incredible PBX before, be advised that Asterisk is compiled from source, and all of the source code is available in the image to support any enhancements you wish to make which are not already included.
Do you have the option with this build to exclude all the 'Incredible PBX' extras and just do a clean basic install? I'm talking about the stuff that people might try once, say 'gee, that's neat', and then never use again because they can just use their cell phones or tablets to display the same information in graphical format. If it uses a voice synthesizer to deliver information then I don't need nor want it; I just want a phone switch to be a phone switch. Also, it still supports chansip, right? I understand Digium wants to migrate everyone to PJSIP or whatever it's called but in my very limited experience nothing works quite right when migrated to PJSIP.
So until they fix it so it really works, I much prefer to just keep using chansip. Said by:Do you have the option with this build to exclude all the 'Incredible PBX' extras and just do a clean basic install?

The installer took over 3 hours to run so we've scrapped that. I'll add a minimal image to the wish list. Both chansip and pjsip are supported in this image, and both seem to work reliably so you can use either or both as desired.

Chansip defaults to UDP 5060 and pjsip is on UDP 5061. Said by:Is there a way (instructions) to build something similar on an non-RPi device? I want to see how it works on the Prange Pi that I have. The processor should be pretty powerful.I think you meant the Orange Pi. Performance isn't the issue. The problem is the kernels are different so it would mean a major rewrite of the code.Because of lack of staff, we've given up trying to support anything other than the Raspberry Pi. The beauty of the RasPi device is it is supported by a terrific foundation with lots of really smart people that keep their OS humming along without any care and feeding by developers like us that don't want to get down in the weeds.Of course, all of our code is open source GPL code so anyone is more than welcome to wrestle with other platforms and share the results.

We'll be glad to host the images once they work.
We currently have a Nortel PBX with Nortel IP phones hanging off it: IP Phone 2002 and IP Phone 2004.We are considering Elastix as a replacement system for the Nortel. Since desk phones are one of the largest costs in a new phone system, we are hoping that we do not have to replace them if possible. Has anyone used Nortel phones with Elastix?
How does it work out?We aren't doing anything fancy with the phones, we would just want to replicate basic functionality from the Nortel phone system (multiple line appearances, speakerphone, headset, transfer, conference, forward, DND, voicemail light, etc.).
